Evie's Bakehouse

We have just had a lovely little visitor down at The Shore this week, meet Evie!

Inspired by a recent visit to Mimi's Corstorphine, 7 year old Evie decided she wanted to do something for children less fortunate than herself. In a single afternoon she made treats, distributed flyers to her neighbours and opened 'Evie's Bakehouse' which raised an incredible £75.10 for Mary's Meals. When she'd sold out of the goodies she'd baked, little sister Caitlin let her cut up and sell her left-over birthday cake. The money they have raised is enough to feed 6 children in the world's poorest communities for a whole school year.

I think you can all agree Evie is a pretty special little girl, so with a little help from her Mum Helen we arranged for a little treat for her and to inspire her next bake sale - a visit to our Bakery down in Leith! Evie started her day with juice and cake before donning her apron and heading into the bakery to ice and decorate some cupcakes with the help of Head Baker Gemma. We were also proud to present Evie with a cheque for £24.90 to take her fundraising total up to £100!

Evie you are welcome back any time and come see us in 8 years if you decide you want to be a baker, or a fashion designer : )
